Nicolas Moreton

'Since I was small my awareness and relevance of stones have played upon my mind. Its presence creating an intimate, tactile conversation that imposes and engages with our fellow humanity and our connectivity to the universe'.

'A stone, like us, brings a presence and a story providing a sense of place. The way it is shaped and formed creating its own character and personality. It is through utilising the vocabulary of the stone, be it in its natural state, or through its working. I hope to convey an image that will relate to our past and yet resonate to those in our future. Whether it be visualised by figurative or organic form I hope my sculptures small or large can engage with the viewer to celebrate the fertile wonderment of life'.

Nicolas has been working in stone for over 35 years. He is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors with his work being collected world wide.Major public art works can be seen in London,Dublin and MK. Following his very successful retrospective exhibition “Making a Mark” last year held at New College,Oxford he will be showing this year at Messums Fine Art, at RHS Chelsea and will be the featured sculptor in the grounds of the Abbey and Cloisters of Beaulieu House.
