Once back in her studio, she will develop her initial sketches. Lucy works to remove any indications of direct representation, instead wanting to depict an imagined or universal space which is left open for the viewer’s interpretation. Lucy’s impasto, expressive marks perfectly capture a landscape buffeted by constant movement. Her work has been exhibited at the RA Summer Show and selected for the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition. She has been awarded several prizes, including the Cheslsea Arts Society Sloane Medal, the Humphrey’s Purchase Prize at the ING Discerning Eye in 2019 and she was shortlisted for the ING Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary in 2020. In 2021 she was elected as an Associate of the Royal Watercolour Society and as a member of the Chelsea Arts Society.
